Clinical Research Facilities
The Clinical Research Facilities in Ireland are state of the art research facilities supporting world class research across a wide range of clinical conditions. These facility plays a vital role in supporting clinical research, providing expert infrastructure, governance, and operational support for the design and delivery of high-quality clinical trials.
IRROG is proud to collaborate closely with the all CRFs nationally, these partnerships have been instrumental in enabling several key studies within our network.

Collaborative Achievements
IRROG successfully opened the DASL-HiCAP Study (ANZUP1801) – Darolutamide Augments Standard Therapy for Localised Very High-Risk Cancer of the Prostate, a phase III randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial investigating the addition of darolutamide to androgen deprivation therapy and definitive or salvage radiotherapy in very high-risk, clinically localised prostate cancer.
This was the first combined radiation oncology and pharmacological trial opened and conducted at the St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at St. James’s Hospital, an IRROG site.
Its successful activation was made possible through the Wellcome Trust-HRB CRF’s essential support, particularly in managing the pharmacy component of the trial, including the secure storage and dispensing of the investigational medicinal product (IMP).
Scientific and Operational Collaboration
Beyond study delivery, the partnership between IRROG and the Wellcome Trust-HRB CRF in St. James’s Hospital extends to research design and statistical collaboration.
The CRF’s biostatistics team has worked closely with IRROG principal investigators to develop and refine new study concepts, strengthening the scientific foundation of future research initiatives.
Professor Martina Hennessy, Director of the CRF, also serves as a valued member of the IRROG Governance Advisory Board, where her strategic insight and extensive experience have been invaluable during the establishment and expansion of the IRROG network.
Acknowledgement
We would like to acknowledge the our collaborations with each of the CRFs for their continued partnership, expertise, and commitment to advancing collaborative, patient-centred research in radiation oncology.
These collaborations reflect a shared vision of excellence in clinical research and innovation, ensuring Irish patients benefit from access to cutting-edge, evidence-based cancer care.
