Improvements in Patient Outcomes Driven by Research
Listen as Paul discusses the clinical trial activity at Bon Secours Radiotherapy Centre, in partnership with UPMC Hillman Cancer Centre emphasizing the advantages of clinical trials. He describes advancements in radiation therapy, the integration of AI into treatments, and the resulting improvements in patient outcomes driven by ongoing research and clinical trials.
“When I meet a patient I tell them what their standard treatment options are and it’s really nice to be able to offer something different, something that is cutting edge.”
"Patients are reassured by the level of oversight"
Here Erica speaks about the role the research radiation therapist plays and how they are involved in every step of the patient’s journey when a patient participates on a clinical trial.
“Patients that I’ve looked after on trials report that they feel reassured by the level of oversight from the study doctor and that having a dedicated contact on the research team from referral through treatment and into follow-up is comforting, to know that there is someone at the end of the phone if they need advice”.
